If you or anyone permanently living in your household are in receipt of any of the 10 qualifying benefits, you could qualify for a free gas boiler or electrical heating grant.
Under the conditions of the Government ECO scheme, your boiler must be over 15 years old to be eligible for a FREE boiler grant. However, if your boiler is under 15 years old, then it is considered that it will be more cost effective to repair your current boiler, than to replace it.

HOW MUCH WILL I SAVE WITH A NEW BOILER?
If you have an old boiler that is inefficient, you could well be wasting as much as 35p for every £1 you spend! By upgrading to an A-rated boiler, which will usually operate at an energy efficiency level greater than 90%, could mean than far less than 10p of every £1 spent heating your home would be going to waste. This means that you could save as much as £300 on energy bills over the course of a year with a new boiler.

You may be wondering how such generous boiler grants may be free, but under Government ECO3 scheme the Big 6 energy companies – British Gas, E.ON, SSE, npower, EDF Energy and ScottishPower – are obliged to provide funding to help reduce fuel poverty and help households reduce their carbon footprint.
This funding provides for installation of new energy efficient heating for those households that will most benefit from them. If you meet the qualifying criteria, you could be in line to get a new boiler and central heating system for free.
We know that you will be keen to know how long it will take to get your new boiler installed and heating their home, especially if their current boiler has issues.
Usually, we will have your new boiler installed and up and running within 2-3 weeks from your application. On occasions this can be even sooner. However, in the event that a third party service, such as new gas supply to the property is required, then the process can take a little longer. The costs of a new gas supply would not be covered by the scheme, although it is possible that other funding could be available to cover this.
If you are a homeowner living in the property whose boiler is over 6 years old, and you are in receipt of one or more of the listed benefits, you qualify to apply.
Qualifying benefits include: Universal Credit, Pension Credit, ESA, JSA, Income Support, Working Tax Credits, Child Tax Credits, AFIP, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, DLA, PIP, War Pensions Mobility Supplement, Severe Disablement Allowance, Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, Constant Attendance Allowance or Child Benefits.
